Pregnancy Week 6

In week 6, the embryo begins to look more human. Arms and legs begin to form and it now makes a more familiar shape. Eye lens will start to develop and can be seen as eye spots. Nostril holes develop. It is at this stage that Intestines and pancreas begin to form. The heart will beat continuously now and brain will start to develop.

As far as signs of pregnancy are concerned, tiredness and nausea remain, as well as tenderness in breasts and abdomen. Water retention and frequent urination are also experienced by women at this stage.

A complete physical check up as well as blood and urine tests will be conducted on your first visit to the doctor. In some cases, ultrasound scan also will be done if the doctor prefers to do it.

As for the size, your baby is about the size of a pea now, almost three times its initial size!

Pregnancy Week 7

Now it’s time to form give a shape to the face. Face will now have ear holes, tiny nostrils, and some pigmentation in the eyes. Small details like teeth, toes and fingers are also in the development stage. Limbs get lengthened but individual digits are yet to be formed. Other major developments happen in the intestines and stomach. Also, elbows are getting formed slowly. More complex development happens to the lungs and circulatory system. The brain also continues to develop in this stage.

Your baby is now as big as a pencil eraser!

This stage is a bit difficult for mothers as during this week you will continue to feel tired. Now, you may get morning sickness any time of day. Even though you may not feel so, it is important that you eat food to support your body to take care of the baby. This is the time when you have cravings and aversions to certain foods and smells.

Pregnancy Week 8

Those who have not got any pregnancy symptoms till now will get them this week. They may include nausea, tiredness, tenderness of abdomen and breasts. You can notice an increase in the size of your breast also during this stage. Remember to avoid alcohol like poison when you are pregnant. People may notice your pregnancy glow which is due to the increase in blood flow. Your face and cheeks may glow. Also, your enlarged uterus can be felt if you press softly on your abdomen.

Another main development at this stage happens to the baby’s cartilages and bones. Fingers and toes are formed. The nose is beginning to protrude, eyelids are forming, upper lip is taking shape, and the tongue is beginning to form. The intestines are moving into place.

Your baby’s heart begins to beat at a very rapid rate of at about 150 beats per minute! Now the baby is 0.61 inches (1.6 cm) long and weighs 0.04 ounces (1 gram).

Pregnancy Week 9

During this week, you may feel a bit outrageous due to the uncontrolled hormones. You may also experience tiredness as in previous weeks. So, make it a point to take adequate rest and sleep more. Don’t do any exercise that makes you feel exhausted. Your breast size may increase during this period and there is a possibility of increase in the vein size also. Your breast may experience itching, stretch marks and in some cases leaking also. All this happens because they are getting ready to breastfeed the baby immediately after delivery. You can read about all this and be prepared for it. But make it a point not to dwell too much on it and become overwhelmed about the entire process. Just remember to stay positive always.

The baby will now start to move around even though it will be difficult for you to sense these movements. Their joints and fingers are beginning to form at this stage. They will even have fingerprints and their fingers will be flexible enough to hold objects.

Your baby is now about the size of a quarter, measuring to 0.9 inches (2.3 cm) in length and 0.07 ounces (2 grams) in weight!
