Ovarian Cyst During Pregnancy An ovarian cyst formed during pregnancy not only causes distress to the mother but also can develop into a life threatening situation for both her and her baby . About 25% of the women who develops these cysts will have severe pain during their ovulation nearing to the middle of their cycle. Follicular cysts are found to have no specific symptoms and they generally subside by themselves. Corpus Luteum cyst: These types of ovarian cysts are found only on one side of the ovary and forms after an egg has been released from a follicle. Once this happens the follicle is called as the corpus luteum by doctors. It is also found that this corpus luteum   usually breaks down and disappears when a pregnancy fails. But in rare occasions, corpus luteum may fill with fluid or blood and persist in ovaries giving rise to cysts. Hemorrhagic cyst: As their name suggests, these cysts can be difficult as it can cause bleeding and severe abdominal pain. Most doctors will usually just prescribe a painkiller to those who are suffering from these cysts unless it becomes a severe problem needing much superior care. Dermoid cyst: These are actually benign tumors. They are also referred to as mature cystic teratoma.  These cysts can grow as big as 6 inches in diameter and tend to affect younger women more. As the treatment to these cysts, your doctor will most probably advice close monitoring and make sure that your pregnancy is safe in spite of them. In short, at times ovarian cysts during pregnancy can become problematic but the chances are very rare. Be sure to equip yourself with more facts about cysts and the treatment options available.
